Managing Caregiver Pay Rates

The difference between using the pay rate tab or the pay rate field in service types.

Table of Contents

Rosemark has a number of ways to set the pay rate for a shift and understanding how it determines which pay rate to use is important. When in doubt remember that Rosemark will always apply the most specific pay rate before applying a more general one. Outlined below from right to left is the most general to the most specific pay rates.

Service Type Pay Rate

The most general pay rate is the service type pay rate. This is the rate that is set in your Service Types configuration. The reason we encourage agencies to always have a service type pay rate is to ensure that there is always a pay rate on file in the event something else is missed during the client setup process.

Caregiver Default Pay Rate

The second highest level of pay rates is the caregiver default pay rate. This is managed on the caregiver's profile page under the Payroll tab. If a caregiver has a default pay rate this will be used if nothing more specific is set.

Caregiver Service Type Pay Rate

Some agencies opt to pay caregivers based on the type of services they are providing. By adding which services can be worked under the summary tab you can change the pay rate based on the level of service being provided. In the example below the caregiver makes their default pay rate when working HM or PCA services but gets a premium when working the Hospice service type.

Assignment Pay Rate

Some caregivers and clients may have an agreed upon rate that differs from the standard billing and payroll. In the example below the caregiver has a special rate of $18 only when working a PCA shift for the specific client Ian Malcom.

Shift Pay Rate

The most specific pay rate type is the shift pay rate. A pay rate can also be set on a per shift basis. In the example below the pay rate was adjusted for only the shift on Monday the 24th.

Default Values

Rosemark tries to display when it is using a non-default pay rate. In the image below you can see the default pay rate for the caregiver is $15.00. When services are set to pay the default rate you can see the rate is in parentheses while non-default rates are not. You can also see when a rate has been edited based on whether it has the pencil icon. Clicking the back icon will revert the value to the default rate.
